Can you please pass my message to Brian who posted a comment on the 14th of December last year. John Forrester was my great grandfather. I live in the Middle East but am travelling back to Liverpool only for a few weeks next month and would like to contact him.

Message to Brian:
My grandfather, John Forrester, was the only surviving child of John Joseph Forrester and Mary Forrester (King). The whole family died in the Holy Cross bombing on May 3rd. Is this who you are looking for?
My Grandad - Posted by Jhon Smith - March 17, 2008, 3:33 pm
I just found out that my grandad won a street fight with three Germans, but then died whilst a prisoner of war.

Bombed Out Church - Posted by Paul Thomas - May 21, 2007, 3:16 pm
I visited St Luke's today. I had always wanted to see what it was like inside and today I finally went in and was amazed by all the pictures that were there.

I also spoke to an old woman who was only a young girl at the time. She told me she lived not far from the church and that her grandfather died because he didn't like going down into the main shelter because of the swearing. This cost him, his wife and three other members of his family their lives. A very sad story indeed!

Anyway, I'd like to thank the people involved in getting this church open to the public. Well done and I will be visiting there again with my mother, who like many other people would love to see inside.

Thanks again everyone!

German Plane - Posted by Glyn Roberts - January 15, 2007, 12:50 am
I was born in 1938 - so a child during the war - but well remember a German fighter plane flying low over my house in Rycot Road, Speke. The plane was on fire and the cockpit door pulled back - I could see the pilot who was clearly trying to bail out, but was too low. The plane was heading towards the River Mersey. Soon after, soldiers were searching all the gardens, thinking that the pilot had got out, but he had crashed into the mud in the river.

Hello,
I have come here to comment on the fantastic show held by Wirral Youth Theatre and Urban Strawberry Lunch! It was fantastic performance by all of the young persons involved. I think it is a shame that the council tried to destruct a wonderful piece of Liverpool architecture. I am glad that all the young persons involved will keep fighting to keep the church open.

I particularly enjoyed the piece with the parachute; it reminded me of the war weddings as a dress would cost many rations, so many of the girls used to make them out of the silk parachutes that fell.

I would finally like to thank and congratulate all the people involved in this show. I do hope that you perform it next year as planned.

Thanks for the Great night. It was very touching.
Thanks Jean and Family
